Chava Schrager, born in Poland, is a second-generation Holocaust survivor. She grew up in Ramat-Gan, in the “Ramat-Amidar” neighborhood near the “Avrala” orchard.

From this place comes her yearning for trees, paths winding among them, and the green nature that surrounded her childhood. All of this is reflected in her landscape paintings, trees, and avenues.

Chava Schrager is the daughter of Mir’l (of blessed memory) and Yehezkel Shraga Korengut (of blessed memory), who survived the Nazi oppressor by fleeing to the forests of Siberia. After returning to Poland, they married and immigrated together to Israel.

As a daughter of Holocaust survivors, Chava Schrager absorbed the experience of the Jewish shtetl life in her parents’ home, growing up with stories, memories, and experiences shared by her parents day and night.

In her childhood, Chava was orphaned from her beloved father, who passed away but remains alive and present in her world to this day. Her mother lovingly and devotedly raised her children on her own and passed away at a ripe old age.

The Jewish experience she absorbed at home, along with the longing for her absent father, fostered in her a love for typical figures of rabbis, Torah scholars, and Hasidim, who reflect the spirit of Judaism.

Chava is married to Baruch Shreger. They live in Petach Tikva, where they raise their children and grandchildren.

Chava is a graduate of the Department of Psychology and the Department of Hebrew Literature at Bar-Ilan University. She taught literature and Hebrew subjects in the “Amal” network and at “Bama’aleh” high school in Petach Tikva. She also prepared students for matriculation exams in literature.

Chava Schrager studied painting under Yehudit Levin at the Art Institute in Ramat Hasharon and has studied for many years at the Art School in Petach Tikva under artist and teacher Yossi Mark.

Chava Schrager is a member of the Petach Tikva Artists Association.
